Tricare Physical Therapy

                          Sports Rehabilitation and Training

 What happens at first visit:
You will be evaluated and treated by the physical therapist.  Your therapist will discuss such topics with you as:
  • Your medical history
  • Your current problems/complaints
  • Pain intensity; and what aggravates and eases the problem
  • How your daily activities are impacted, as well as functional limitations
  • Your goals with physical therapy
  • Medications, tests, and procedures related to your health

A plan is subsequently developed with the patient's input. This includes how many times you should see the therapist per week, how many weeks you will need therapy, home programs, patient education, short-term/long-term goals, and what is expected after discharge from therapy. This plan is created with input from you, your therapist, and your doctor.  You will begin your physical therapy treatment at your first visit.

 What you should bring:

  • Your Insurance Card
  • Your doctor's prescription (if you have seen an MD)
  • Patient Forms - which can be downloaded from this website in the Patient Forms page
  • Photo ID

 How you should dress:
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing (such as athletic wear), and sneakers

 How long will treatments last:
Your initial treatment will last approximately 1 hour; each session thereafter will range from 40-60 minutes.

 Where we are located:
Tricare Physical Therapy is located at 460 Old Post Rd. (Rt.22) in Bedford Village, NY.  We are within a short driving distance from Pound Ridge, Armonk, Katonah, Mt. Kisco, Bedford Hills, Chappaqua, and Greenwich, CT.  For further information or a map, see the Location page.

Why people are referred to physical therapy:
People are referred to physical therapy (most often by a physician) for many reasons, such as: pre or post-operative rehabilitation, treatment of a recently healed limb from a fracture injury, joint pain (including shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee/ankle pain), neck/back pain, functional limitations such as inability to get out of a chair, ascend/descend stairs, and walk for prolonged distances, as well as others.  Physical therapists treat these problems and their associated pains and restore your body's ability to move in a normal manner.

 Whether your therapist is licensed:
Yes - Physical therapists (PTs) are licensed by their respective states.  At Tricare Physical Therapy, all of our therapists are licensed in both NY and CT.

Why physical therapy is a good choice:
Millions of Americans are suffering from some form of pain. Whether it is a recent episode or chronic, an ABC News/Stanford study revealed that pain in America is a serious problem. However, many do not even know that physical therapists are well equipped to not only treat pain but also its source.  Physical therapists are experts at treating movement and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Pain often accompanies a movement disorder, and physical therapists can help correct the disorder and relieve the pain.
